February Community Education Courses Offered at LMC’s South Haven Campus

SOUTH HAVEN, MI – Lake Michigan College’s South Haven Campus is offering several Community Education classes that begin in February, including courses on social media, stained glass, and pet first aid.

The Online World of Social Media
This 2-hour course will cover the basics of the social web: Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Participants will learn the best ways to navigate these sites through lecture and hands on practice, including issues of security and privacy. The course goal is for each student to create a Facebook account. Donna Maxson is an experienced computer science instructor and technician.

Beginning Stained Glass
This 10-week class is for the beginner in stained glass or someone who wants to refresh their skills. Participants will be introduced to the basic terminology and skills while creating a new project to take home. Participants will need to purchase a glass cutter ($15), pliers ($12), safety glasses ($12), copper foil ($8), and solder ($14) for their project as well as the glass they wish to use (prices vary). Patterns and markers will be provided by the instructor. Craig Richards is an experienced glass artist, instructor and business owner. Sorry, no discount available for this class.

Pet First Aid Course
This class will present how to respond to pet health emergencies and will provide basic first aid for the four-legged members of your family. Practice as offered in the course will prepare participants to be calm and effective in an emergency, protecting humans and animals from further injury or suffering. No discounts available for this class. 2 year Red Cross certification.
