BENTON TOWNSHIP, MI – The Lake Michigan College Performing Arts Department is planning its first ever Cabaret for Friday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mendel Center. Hors d’oeuvres, a bar, the band, and the dance floor are all arranged, and now all that’s needed are the performers.
Kris Behr, administrative and production assistant for the Performing Arts Department said, “We know that this community is full of people with lots of bottled up talent with absolutely no opportunity to get it out . Usually the church choir is not the best place to release your inner Liza Minnelli.”
The cabaret originated in France in the late 19th century as a casual setting for people to enjoy singing, dancing, magicians, comedy, and other performance art. “Whatever your talent, our Cabaret is the perfect venue for you to shine,” said Behr.
To schedule an audition, call the Performing Arts office at (269) 927-8876. Auditions will be held Friday, February 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, February 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Auditions and the Cabaret will take place in the Mendel Center on the Napier Avenue Campus located at 2755 East Napier Avenue, Benton Harbor, Michigan.
