Certificate and Degree Options

Lake Michigan College offers certificate and associate's degree programs for Drafting and Design students.

Certificate Program

The one-year, 38-credit certificate qualifies you to work as a helper for engineers and designers on jobs like the preparation of blueprints, tracings, and inking of masters. Courses in this program can be transferred to the associate's degree program.

Associate Degree Program
Completion of the 61-credit associate's degree program qualifies you to work directly with a design engineer on jobs such as conceptual product design and layout. Graduates of this program receive an Associate of Industrial Technology Degree.

Transfer Degree Program
The associate degree in drafting and design transfers to Ferris State University's Manufacturing Engineering Technology and Product Design Engineering Technology programs. See your academic advisor for more information.

Occupational Education Studies
This program articulates with the Occupational Education Studies (OES) program at Western Michigan University to prepare certified vocational teachers for high school, technical centers and community colleges. If you think you might be interested in teaching, please discuss the OES program with your advisor.
