The LPN program can be completed in one year and the RN program can be completed in two years. However, because of the heavy class and clinical schedule, the Nursing department at Lake Michigan College recommends that LPN students consider spreading the coursework over two years and RN student plan on three years of college.
If you choose to spread the program over the longer time frame, the first year of each program can be spent taking the general education and support course requirements. Because there often is a waiting list for admission to the nursing program, many students use the time they are on the waiting list to many of these types of courses.
RN program classes are offered only during the fall and winter semesters and LPN program classes during the fall, winter, spring, and summer sessions.
A nursing lab is housed at LMC's Napier Avenue campus where all nursing classes are offered. General education and support courses can be taken at the Napier Avenue Campus in Benton Township, the Bertrand Crossing Campus, and the South Haven Campus.
