SOUTH HAVEN, MI – More than 4,500 pounds of unwanted electronics were collected during the recycling event at the Lake Michigan College South Haven Campus April 16. Working in partnership with Green Earth Electronics Recycling of St. Joseph, the College collected a wide range of items, from computers to televisions to appliances.
“We will continue to help our community to keep these items from ending up in our landfills,” stated Denise Thomas, director of student services at the South Haven Campus. “This project is important to us and it’s a good opportunity for the students to get involved and help out.” Next year’s electronics recycling event, the Campus’ fourth, will be held April 15, 2015.
Green Earth Electronics Recycling is registered through the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and reuse, refurbish or recycle all of the items they collect. Green Earth regularly schedules similar drop off events as well as corporate and institutional pickups.
