BENTON TOWNSHIP, MI – Lake Michigan College’s Winter 2014 community education classes at the Napier Avenue Campus begin in January. Area musicians have four options for skill improvement and performance opportunities throughout the semester: Jazz Band, Concert Choir, Show Choir-Voice LMC, and Symphonic Wind Ensemble. All music ensembles meet at the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center in Room F-125.
Instruction and performance of music in all styles of jazz and rock idioms includes techniques of rehearsing stage band, playing of student arrangements and performance of jazz compositions, concert arrangements, and various rock idioms. Open through audition. No discounts.

Choir performs in regular concerts each semester using a varied range of sacred and secular music for the purpose of study and performance. Open to all students and also all community members with vocal ability through audition. No discounts.

Time: 7 – 9 p.m.
Show Choir – Voices LMC
Show Choir performs musical theatre and jazz music regularly during the semester with small instrumental ensembles. Staging and choreography are important parts of the performances. Open through audition. No discounts.
Date: Mondays and Wednesdays, January 13 – April 31
Time: 12:40 - 2:50 p.m.
Symphonic Wind Ensemble
Music ranging from traditional through contemporary styles. Open to all students and community members, through audition, with interest in performing concert band music. May be repeated for credit. No discounts.

Time: 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
