Benton Township, MI - The Lake Michigan College Board of Trustees announced at its June meeting that it has chosen Debra Johnson of St. Joseph to fill the trustee seat left vacant when Renee Williams resigned from the position in May. The term Johnson is filling expires in December of this year.
Johnson has worked at Lakeland Regional Healthcare since 1993 as director of Nephrology, Psychiatric and Support Services, executive director of Acute Care, and, currently at Lakeland Regional Health System, Niles as administrator, directing and supporting plans for day-to-day operations. She holds an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from DePaul University. She began her education at Malcolm X College, a community college in Chicago.
Johnson is a member of the Niles Chamber of Commerce, the Niles/Buchanan Rotary, and the Niles Downtown Development Authority, as well as several professional nursing organizations. She served on the St. Joseph School Board in 2004-2005.
