LMC Announces Two New Scholarships
BENTON TOWNSHIP, MI – Lake Michigan College Foundation has announced that two new scholarships will be made available for the 2014-2015 academic year. The two newest scholarships are:
The Britt and Judy Murphey Family Endowed Scholarship offers assistance to residents living in the College district or the St. Joseph or Elkhart counties of Indiana. The student must be a recent high school graduate and have demonstrated involvement in school or community activities.
The LMC Women’s Athletics All Stars Endowed Scholarship offers assistance to full-time female students who are members of an LMC athletic team.
“The positive impact that these scholarships have in the lives of LMC’s students re-affirms that the work the LMC Foundation and its Board of Directors is doing is making a difference,” stated Mary Klemm, director of annual giving, events & stewardship.
Scholarship applications for the 2014-15 academic year are now being accepted, and funds will be awarded to 2014 graduates until they are exhausted. Returning Lake Michigan College students should have their scholarship applications submitted by April 15, 2014.
During the 2012-2013 academic year, 536 students received $636,524.40 in institutional, endowed and restricted scholarships. Many of the scholarships, which include privately-funded and institutional awards, are distributed to multiple recipients. Scholarship awards serve several purposes – to recognize academic achievement, provide financial assistance, encourage adults to start or continue a college education or assist current LMC students who have demonstrated academic excellence, defined as 3.0 GPA or higher.
Complete information regarding each of the scholarships is available by visiting the Lake Michigan College web site at www.lakemichigancollege.edu/scholarships or by contacting the Financial Aid Department at (269) 927-8112. Students may apply by submitting an on-line application at the website or by obtaining an application form from the Financial Aid Department and mailing it to 2755 E.
