This is an introduction to traditional African American music and the process of rote singing. Emphasis will be given to the study of vocal production, music interpretation, and movement in the communication of ideas presented in a text or scripture from the African American cultural and musical traditions. The course offers individuals of all backgrounds and diverse communities the opportunity to bond, support each other, and perform in regular concerts each semester by making a joyful noise together.
