STEM Summer Camps - Summer Robotics

Designed to help students explore their abilities in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields

To register for a camp, or for more information, call (269) 695-1391.

All Summer classes will be held at the Lake Michigan College Bertrand Crossing Campus, 1905 Foundation Dr., Niles, MI 49120

Train the Trainer (for adults)
In this day long seminar adult students receive hands-on experience with building and programming the LEGO® NXT robot, an introduction to other LEGO® curriculum including Simple Machines® and WeDo®. Competition opportunities will also be introduced, specifically FIRST® LEGO® League, FIRST® Tech Challenge and VEX®. Attendees will have enough information at the end of the seminar to find the tools they need to start their own program. Lunch and snacks provided.

Date: June 21, 2014
Time: 8 am - 4 pm
Cost: $125

Robotics Camps
In the Robotics camps, students work to solve challenges by building and programming robots using the LEGO® Mindstorms® (NXT) Robotics Invention System. They build their own robot and learn computer programming to control it. Students will have a partner for some activities, and are expected to cooperate and share well. Each day includes structured lessons and activities to practice construction and programming skills. Students need to bring their own sack lunch, and be motivated and mature enough to stay focused on activities. For students aged 9-14.

Introduction to Arduino
Welcome to the world of digital electronics and physical computing! In this camp you will learn how to design, build, and program electronic circuits that are controlled by a microcomputer called an Arduino. All students will get to keep their Arduino and an assortment of electronic components ($100 value) at the end of the course for further experimentation on their own. Open to middle school aged or older.
