Jewelry Making and College Planning Courses: November LMC Community Education at South Haven Campus

SOUTH HAVEN, MI – Lake Michigan College’s South Haven Campus is offering several Community Education classes in November. The following is a sample of classes offered. 

Fun, Fast, & Easy Holiday Earrings
Students in this class will learn to make inexpensive, handcrafted earrings in color and length of their choice, either pierced or clip-on. Skills that will be taught in class include how to form earwires, looping and wrapping for dangle earrings, and free-form wire designs. The instructor is an award-winning owner/designer of a jewelry company and has taught since 2008. This class will be taught again on Saturday, December 7.

“Easy-Peasy” Wire Wrapping Jewelry
This course will feature simple techniques for wire wrapping a pendant necklace or bracelet and providing secure holding-power. Students will also learn to make free-form connectors between beads for added interest. The instructor is an award winning owner/designer of a jewelry company and teaching since 2008. This class will be taught again on Saturday, December 7.

College Planning 101
This free course is intended to provide instruction on navigating the college preparation and search process to both parents and students. Students will begin thinking about their interests and needs, and how that relates to choosing a college. An introduction to financial planning basics is also included, as well as discussion of college life and what to look for in different colleges and universities. Directed at students in grades 8-12 and their parents.
