LMC South Haven Campus Community Education Classes Highlight Creativity

Registration Now Available for September Courses

SOUTH HAVEN, MI –Lake Michigan College’s South Haven Campus is offering several Community Education classes in September. The following is a sample of classes offered. 

Make Your Own Ukrainian Egg (Pysanky)
Have FUN learning to make Ukrainian eggs! These eggs make beautiful gifts or family heirlooms. Instructor Charlene Randall has been making “pysanky” for 20 years. This is a wonderful activity for all ages. You don’t have to artsy or crafty to create a beautiful egg. Wear clothing you won’t mind getting stained or bring an apron and, for safety, tie back long hair. Course fee includes everything needed to complete the project. (Your finished product will be ready to pick up the following week.) Kids 9 to 15 are welcome, but must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Hinduism and the Bhagavad-Gita
Hinduism is generally a great mystery, especially among people of monotheistic cultures. This course will begin with the history of Hinduism, seek to demonstrate the significance of the various books, and conclude with a careful reading of The Bhagavad-Gita, by far the most popular book among Hindus. The course will change quickly from lecture to discussion. J. David Tidwell, the instructor, has taught the Gita as both literature and as a profound expression of Hindu Religion and Philosophy. He has taught Hinduism at Cranbrook Kingswood and other community colleges.
