The Classroom Experience

As a student at LMC, you will prepare for employment as an entry-level utility worker through experience gained installing and repairing business and residential electrical, telephone, and telegraph transmission systems. You will have the opportunity to learn hands-on with actual equipment and materials in classroom, lab, and field settings.

Requirements for the certificate include classroom-based courses including Energy Generation and Distribution, Blueprint Reading & Sketching, AC and DC Electricity, and Transformers and Motors Control as well as field and lab-based courses such as Line Worker Orientation, Climbing & Working/Elevated Work Sites, and Utility Construction Fundamentals.

Upon completion of the program, you will participate in the Lineman’s Rodeo where you will demonstrate the skills you’ve learned in the classes in front of potential employers.
