The Toledo War

The Civil War was not the first war between the states. In 1835, Michigan and Ohio stood toe-to-toe, ready to do battle over the ownership of a small ribbon of land that included the city of Toledo. This dispute would delay Michigan’s admission into the Union and help shape the state we know today. Learn more about this fascinating chapter of Michigan’s early history.
