Heroes & Heroines in 20th Century Biomedical Science

Heroes don’t always have capes! Professor Fred Kauffman invites you to attend a multi-session introduction to the Heroes and Heroines of modern day Biomedical Science. Each week will explore the lives and works of two individuals who have improved the health and welfare of people around the world. These unsung heroes may not appear in comic books, but their work has set the foundation for current discovers and progress in modern science and medicine. Walter Reed, Percy Lavon Julian, Rachel Carson, Francis Kelsey, and Rosalind Franklin are among those that will be highlighted. Attendance at all five sessions is not required.
