Foundation and Grants
Lake
Michigan College has an active fund-raising and grant development
program.
Private fund-raising activities are coordinated
through the Lake Michigan
College Foundation and its 49 member Board of Directors.
Established in 1986, the Foundation has assets of $5.7 million,
of which nearly $4.1 million is endowed. Annual fund-raising
activities include a scholarship auction and golf outing. The
Foundation recently completed the first phase of a $5 million
advancement campaign by raising more than $5.2 million for student
scholarships, academic programs and technology, student life
and facilities and Mendel Center for Arts and Technology.
Planning for Phase II of the campaign with a tentative
goal of $7 million is currently underway. Phase II of the campaign
is expected to continue to increase the number of scholarships,
as well as support academic programs, especially in the emerging
technologies, and address capital improvement needs in the Mendel
Center.
The College's grant development program supports
a wide range of important student, academic, and physical plant
priorities. Major grant programs currently managed by the College
include four TRIO grants (Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search,
Educational Opportunity Center and Student Support Services).
In FY '05 the College closed out a $1.75 million five-year Title
III grant which was used to upgrade classroom technology.
