You'll Need - Computer Information Systems
Lake Michigan College program coordinator and instructor
Gary Grannell says, "time management and interpersonal
communication skills are a must in this industry. Students must
also realize that there is no end to education in this field."
The ability to think logically and have excellent verbal and
written skills is key. Often, you will be dealing with multiple
tasks at once, and you must be able to shift your focus from
one project to the next and pay close attention to detail.
You must also be able to work independently as well as in a
team. This is where effective communication among team members
is crucial. Successful communication will result in faster problem
solving.
Other skills and abilities that you'll need include:
- solid technical background
- self-motivation
- persistence in problem solving
