Billing Clerks review purchase orders, sales tickets or
charge slips to calculate the total amount due from a customer.
They also calculate and record amounts of goods and services sold
and prepare invoices for customers.
Payroll Clerks screen timecards for calculating, coding
or other errors, and adjusting pay due to Federal and state taxes.
It is vital that they keep up to date on tax and deduction laws.
May compute and post wages and deductions.
Bookkeeping Clerks handle all financial transactions and
record keeping, often preparing summary reports for supervisors
and managers. They prepare bank deposits, balance receipts, and
prepare invoices.
Auditing Clerks verify records of transactions posted
by other workers, check figures and documents for correct entries,
and correct accountants' errors.
Data Entry Clerks type information from a document or
a screen into a computer program and check their own entries.
