The Classroom Experience
- Apprentice Training
Apprenticeships will differ according to the sponsoring company's
requirements. While some employers do not pay for apprenticeship
classes, some may reimburse the apprentice after each class
has been successfully completed, or some may pay for both the
classes and related materials such as textbooks. Predominately,
courses required by apprenticeships are offered in the evenings
during fall and winter and a few courses are also offered in
the spring and summer semesters.
The apprentice program takes approximately four years to complete
both the on-the-job training and the academic courses depending
on your employer's U.S. Department of Labor Registered Trade(s).
Getting the Most from the Program
By keeping in touch with your company representative and the
Apprentice Training Department staff, you can make sure you
are taking the required courses and completing your on-the-job
training hours as required.
