Apprentice Training
Lake Michigan College works with local employers to provide
training to employees who are enrolled in a formal apprenticeship.
This agreement must meet the standards by the Office of
Apprenticeship (formerly known as the Bureau of Apprenticeship
and Training) U.S. Department of Labor.
The Apprentice Training Department staff will assist
you and your employer throughout your apprenticeship to
ensure you are taking the appropriate courses. After you
complete your apprenticeship, the staff will continue
to assist you if you choose to pursue an associate degree.
An apprenticeship incorporates classroom instruction at
LMC as well as on-the-job training by your employer. Depending
on the training program, it typically takes two to four
years to complete both the academic and the on-the-job
training required.
Note: Although any student may take classes at
Lake Michigan College, the Apprentice Training Department
serves those students that are currently an employee at
a company that has an established U.S. Department of Labor
Training Program. In addition, the employer must have
already registered or planning to register the employee
with the U.S. Department of Labor.
