Career Opportunities and Work
Life - Philosophy
According to Lake Michigan College program coordinator Dr. K.
Sundaram, a philosophical mind will "try to understand the
basic principles that govern our lives." "It is the
goal of the Philosophy department to have our students obtain
the ability to understand and define concepts, then apply them
to life."
Once you have attain a bachelor's in philosophy, some career
paths you could follow are:
- Finance
- Publishing
- Editing
- Government
- Education (with teaching certificate)
Most students who receive a degree in philosophy decide to further
their education by taking the LSAT (Law School Aptitude Test),
MCAT (Medical College Admissions Test), or GRE (Graduate Record
Examination). Well-prepared Philosophy majors consistently perform
well on these examinations.
