Skills You'll Need - Sociology

Sociology helps you develop analytical skills and the ability to understand issues within a macro-economic structure. The ability to think critically and use evidence to support an argument is very important, especially in our fast-paced job market.

According to Lake Michigan College sociology instructor and transfer program coordinator, Dr. Michele Stone, "Students will learn how to be life-long learners. They'll also learn to not only handle diversity, but thrive within diverse cultures and communities."

In sociology it is important to be able to look beyond your personal boundaries and gain awareness of our entire society. It is critical to be culturally aware of our global community and to rid yourself of ethnocentrism.
