OPPORTUNITIES
Careers in Entertainment are ranked by the U.S. Bureau of Labor
as being among the top 30 occupations experiencing growth. They
expect a 54% growth in job potential by the year 2005. This means
there will be more demand for actors and an even stronger demand
for technicians. Typical entry level salaries are $900 per week
on Broadway, $500 per week Off-Broadway; $1,600 per week in movies.
Other professional theatre situations across the country would
pay $500 per week. The more experience the performer accumulates,
the higher the salary can be negotiated in most cases. Entry level
salaries may be slightly higher for technicians because of stronger
demand. Theatre offers a very good background for those pursuing
teaching as well. Starting pay for teachers is $25,000 - $30,000.
