Fine Arts and Communication programs available at Lake Michigan College include:

Art
Art students study theory and history, and work directly with a given medium in a studio environment in coursework such as design, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, weaving, and sculpture. Students also build a portfolio of work that can be used in the job search or in transferring to a four-year college or university.

Communication
Communication provides students with an opportunity to explore the dynamics that govern how people exchange information. The curriculum consists of a wide range of courses and acquaints students with various disciplines that help to shape the communication process. Students planning to pursue a bachelor's degree in Communication may complete their first two years of college courses at Lake Michigan College. Careers utilizing a communication degree include advertising, publishing, broadcast, public relations, and writing.

English
English as a discipline involves the study of composition and writing, as well as the various genres of literature. Students planning to pursue a bachelorŐs degree in English may complete their first two years of college courses at Lake Michigan College. An English degree can lead to careers in writing, publishing, public relations, business, and a wide range of other occupations.

Foreign Language
This program is for students planning to pursue a foreign language as a primary skill in teaching, interpreting, translating, or business. The courses broaden knowledge and awareness of the world and its interdependent people. Wider employment opportunities are available to those who combine foreign language with professional programs like business administration, journalism, travel, tourism, hospitality, and education. Students planning to pursue a bachelorŐs degree in Foreign Language may complete their first two years of college courses at Lake Michigan College.

Music
The Music curriculum at Lake Michigan College offers courses for students interested in simply advancing their music skills as well as earning the first two years of a four-year music degree. Applied music courses provide direct contact with performance faculty who help students attain a greater competence on their instrument or in voice. A degree in music can lead to career opportunities in music education, music therapy, conducting, composition, performance, and musical theatre to name a few. Students planning to pursue a bachelor's degree in Music may complete their first two years of college courses at Lake Michigan College.

Theatre
The study of theatre at Lake Michigan College is designed to provide training in both performance and technical theatre. Students can concentrate on one or both and should be ready to pursue employment or transfer to a four-year college or university upon receiving their Associate Degree. Acting students are given the opportunity to perform in live performances and Stagecraft students are given the opportunity to be a part of academic theatre production and work with the many professional tours that perform at the Mendel Center. Students planning to pursue a bachelor's degree in Theatre may complete their first two years of college courses at Lake Michigan College.
