HOW DO I APPLY FOR THE PROGRAM AT LAKE MICHIGAN COLLEGE? Please see the following two sections.

Section One:

The following documents are to be submitted to the Records Office:

  1. Application to Lake Michigan College.
  2. High school transcript or GED results.
    Acceptance Criterion: High school GPA of 2.5 (on 4.0 scale) or GED composite score of 55.
    Equivalent Substitute: Twelve (12) credits of college level courses (above 100 level) which include a laboratory course in biology or chemistry (grade C or better) with an overall 2.0 GPA or better.
  3. COMPASS Assessment. This is a basic skills assessment which covers reading, writing (English), and math. This is a College requirement for all first time college students and is offered by the Assessment Center as listed in the LMC Class Schedule.
  4. Nelson-Denny Reading Assessment: This is an additional assessment to the above COMPASS reading assessment which must be taken by all pre-radiologic technology students except those with a previous degree (A.D., B.S., M.A.) from a school with English as the official language. Given in the Assessment Center as listed in the LMC Class Schedule.
    Acceptance Criterion: (Reading: 40 percentile (grade 11.8); Writing: English 101 eligible
    Equivalent Substitute: None. However, if the assessments result in below-level scores, the recommended course must be taken and another assessment will be done at the end of this course.
  5. Math Proficiency Test: This is an in-house math test given in the Math Lab. It covers whole numbers, fractions, decimals, ratio & proportion, and percent.
    Acceptance Criterion: 75% on each section
    Equivalent Substitute: Completed MATH 090 within 2 years with a grade of "C" or better.
  6. Algebra Proficiency Test: This is a test covering the content of the Math 125 (Elementary Algebra) course.
    Acceptance Criterion: Exam score of 75%
    Equivalent Substitute: Completed MATH 125 within 2 years with a grade of "C" or better.

Section Two:

Acceptance Requirements:

  1. Currently certified in CPR/AED (Professional Rescuer, Adult, Infant and Child) and First Aid.
  2. Successfully complete READ 110 Medical Terminology.
  3. Successfully complete BIOL 205 Human Anatomy (10-year limitation) with a "C" or better.
  4. Current LMC overall GPA of 2.0 or better.
  5. Interview with program coordinator.
  6. Four-hour clinical observation. The program coordinator will schedule applicants who have completed all the above requirements for a visit to one of the clinical facilities utilized by Lake Michigan College. A report of this visit will be submitted by the clinical instructor to the program coordinator.
  7. Criminal background check and drug screen test.

When all the above requirements have been completed, the student must request a Pre-Admission Health Science Audit by submitting the audit request form to the Records Office (form is available from Records Office or Health Science Office).
