About the Program of Study
The Law Enforcement program is designed to give you a broad base of
general education along with specific skills and knowledge in the field
of law enforcement. The program is designed to prepare students for
a technical career upon graduation.
Degree completion at LMC
If you have recently completed the Police Academy at KVCC or the State
Police Academy, you are eligible to complete your associate's degree
at LMC. Upon completion, you will be awarded an Associate in Applied
Science degree.
Degree Options 1+1 with KVCC
Upon completion of the 1+1 program in conjunction with Kalamazoo Valley
Community College, you will receive an Associate in Applied Science
or Associate in Arts degree , depending on the general education courses
you take. The degree will be awarded by KVCC.

Scholarship Opportunities
There are several general scholarships that are based on academic excellence,
need, and other criteria that are available to students enrolled at
Lake Michigan College.

Career Opportunities
A law enforcement career can lead you to be a police officer in almost
any geographic area of the country. As a police officer in a rural area,
you may perform a wide variety of activities including directing traffic
at the scene of a crime, investigating a burglary, or giving first aid
to an accident victim. In a larger police department, your duties may
be more specific.

Transfer Options
With slight modifications, the Law Enforcement program can be a transfer
program and lead to a bachelor's degree upon completion of required
courses at certain four-year institutions. Siena Heights University
at LMC accepts this degree toward a Bachelor of Applied Science degree.
