The
Wellness Center has a wide range of equipment for every fitness
level.
Aerobic Super Circuit
The Aerobic Super Circuit is a combination of aerobic activities
and strength training. You work through a predetermined rotation
of cardio and strength training stations in 45 second intervals.
There is no waiting in line for the next machine or skipping a
machine because it is in use.
The fitness result is comparable to that of a running program
with less skeletal shock and joint stress associated with running.
The Institute for Aerobics Research in Dallas, Texas under the
direction of Dr. Ken Cooper has tested the super-circuit concept.
By using a 30 minute program and 40 percent of maximum effort
with no rest in between, both men and women experienced a 17 percent
improvement rate in aerobic endurance, tests revealed. These findings
are consistent with the 15 to 25 percent improvement normally
gained from a running-only program. Men and women alike improved
upper-body strength 21 percent. Men improved leg strength 21 percent,
women 25 percent. Body-fat percentages were reduced 17 percent
(men) and 11 percent (women).
