Scholarship Detail - Adult Learners
Adult Start-up Scholarship*
Amount: Up to $325
- For student out of high school at least five years
- Must demonstrate financial need
- First time enrolling at LMC
- Must enroll for a minimum of six credit hours
- Scholarship applied to the purchase of books
- First semester scholarship $125
- Renewable for second consecutive semester in amount of $200
with a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Must complete the Free Apllication for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
Beta Sigma Phi Scholarship*
Amount: Up to $1,000
- Must reside in the South Haven service area
- Must be out of high school for a minimum of two years
- Will demonstrate the ability to succeed academically
- Will maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA to qualify for renewal
- Preference will be given to women who are raising young children
- May be full-time or part-time
- Must complete the Free Apllication for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
Cornerstone Alliance Scholarship
Amount: Varies
- For residents of the cities of Benton Harbor and St. Joseph,
and the townships of Benton, St. Joseph, Hagar, Lincoln, and
Royalton
- Must pursue a program of study in order to secure retraining
for employment
- May be full-time or part-time
- Renewable upon maintaining a minimum 2.0 GPA
- Do not need to demonstrate financial need to qualify
Ernest L. & Mattie M. Robinson Endowed
Scholarship*
Amount: $500
- Be permanent residents of the districts the College serves
- Preference will be given to students who have taken some college
level classes and who have demonstrated motivation and academic
success in those pursuits
- Have and maintain a 2.0 GPA for eligibility and/or renewal
- May be full-time or part-time students
- Demonstrate financial need
- Must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA)
Jespersen Family Scholarship*
Amount: Varies, may be used for tuition, fees and/or books
- Be permanent in-district residents of Berrien County
- Current high school graduate entering college for the first
time or have a GED OR
- Current college student, traditional or non-traditional
- Have and maintain a 2.5 GPA for eligibility and/or renewal
- For applicants out of school for more than two years, the
minimum cumulative GPA may be waived
- May be a full-time or part time-student
- Demonstrate financial need, but does not qualify for other
significant financial aid
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
Kidzone Scholarship*
Amount: $500, may be used for tuition, fess, books and/or child
care expenses
- Be residents of the LMC district in Berrien or Van Buren counties
with child/children enrolled in the childcare program at Kidzone
- Be current high school graduate entering College for the first
time or,
- Current college student, traditional or non-traditional
- Preference will be given to single mothers
- Remain in good academic standing to apply for renewal
- May be enrolled full-time or part-time
- Demonstrate financial need, but not qualify for a full Pell
Grant
- Must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA)
Lake Michigan College Alumni Association
Endowed Scholarship*
Amount: Varies, may be used for tuition, fees, or books
- For a student residing within the College district and related
to an LMC alumnus
- May be a recent high school graduate or an adult learner
- Must have minimum 2.0 GPA
- Must provide a written letter of recommendation from a non-related
LMC alumnus
- May be full-time or part-time
- Preference will be given to merit first, then financial need
- Renewable for a second year provided 3.0 GPA or higher is
maintained
- Must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA)
Michael L. Swift Scholarship*
Amount: Varies, may be used for tuition, fees and/or books
- Preference will be given to African American males
- Be permanent in-district residents of Berrien County
- Current high school graduate entering college for the first
time or have a GED OR
- Current college student, traditional or non-traditional
- Have and maintain a 2.5 GPA for eligibility and/or renewal
- For applicants out of school for more than two years, the
minimum cumulative GPA may be waived
- May be afull-time or part time-student
- Demonstrate financial need, but does not qualify for other
significant financial aid

Richie & Karen Barnes Family Scholarship*
Amount: Varies, may be used for tuition, fees and/or books
- Be permanent in-district residents of Berrien County
- Current high school graduate entering college for the first
time or have a GED OR
- Current college student, traditional or non-traditional
- Have and maintain a 2.5 GPA for eligibility and/or renewal
- For applicants out of school for more than two years, the
minimum cumulative GPA may be waived
- May be a full-time or part time-student
- Preference may be given to, but not limited to, adult students
with families
- Demonstrate financial need, but does not qualify for other
significant financial aid
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student

Shellito Family Endowed Scholarship*
Amount: Varies, may be used for tuition, fees, books, or childcare
expenses
- Must be a resident of the College's service area
- Preference will be given to single mothers/single parents/single
black males
- Recent high school graduates must have a minimum cumulative
GPA of 2.75
- Returning LMC students must have a minimum cumulative GPA
of 2.75
- Must be enrolled at least 6 credit hours per semester
- May be renewed as long as the student remains enrolled at
LMC in a degree program
- Must maintain a 2.75 GPA for renewal
- Must demonstrate financial need, but does not qualify for
other significant financial aid
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
Whirlpool Corporation Leadership Scholarship*
Amount: Varies
- For two high school students entering college for the first
time and for two adult students
- High school applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, must be
enrolled full-time, and working to complete an associate degree
in a Occupational Studies program related to business
- Adult applicants must have achieved a minimum cumulative 3.0
GPA, must be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours per semester,
and working to complete an associate degree in an Occupational
Studies program or taking classes to enhance their job related
skills
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
Winner's Circle Scholarship*
Amount: $500 to $1,000 per year
- For high school students with a minimum cumulative GPA of
2.25
- For LMC student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
- For applicants out of school for more than two years, the
minimum cumulative GPA may be waived
- Applicant must not be eligible for a full Pell grant or other
substantial sources of aid
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student

have been established by generous friends, organizations, businesses,
and LMC to help students succeed in achieving their educational
goals. The required qualifications for each scholarship are
listed below. To apply for a scholarship designated with an
asterisk(*) you must also complete a "Free Application
for Federal Student Aid" (FAFSA -
click for the online version) and indicate LMC (Title IV
code 002277) as a college you plan to attend.
