Scholarship Detail - Benton Harbor Area Residents
Arthur F. Kalinas Memorial Scholarship*
Amount: Varies
- Must be a resident of St. Joseph Township, Michigan
- Must be a 2006 high school graduate
- Must have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.5
- Must plan to enroll as a full-time (12 credit hours) student
at LMC for the Fall semester following high school graduation
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
Benton Harbor Lions Club A.J. "Bud" Hoffman
Scholarship*
Amount: Varies
- For a recent high school graduate or a non-traditional student
- Must be a resident of the Benton Harbor area
- Demonstrate involvement in a community, church or school service
activity
- Must provide a letter of recommendation from a high school
principal, counselor or teacher
- Must be enrolled full-time
- Renewable for second year provided minumum cumulative 2.75
GPA after first semester and/or 3.0 GPA is maintained.
- Demonstrate financial need
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
Cornerstone Alliance Scholarship
Amount: Varies
- For residents of the cities of Benton Harbor and St. Joseph,
and the townships of Benton, St. Joseph, Hagar, Lincoln, and
Royalton
- Must pursue a program of study in order to secure retraining
for employment
- May be full-time or part-time
- Renewable upon maintaining a minimum 2.0 GPA
- Do not need to demonstrate financial need to qualify
Elijah Burton Endowed Scholarship*
Amount: $500
- Preference given to students from the Benton Harbor school
district
- Must be recommended by his/her high school counselor
- Must be a full-time (12 credit hours) student
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student

Marohn Family Scholarship*
Amount: Varies
- Be residents of Benton Harbor, St. Joseph or Stevensville
area
- Plan to work at a business in this community
- Have a minimum 2.5 high school GPA
- Maintain a College GPA of 2.5 for renewal the second semester
- May be enrolled full-time or part-time
- May be traditional or non-traditional
- Must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA)
Rich Wohlfert Memorial Scholarship*
Amount: Varies, for tuition, fees & books for required Hospitality
Management courses
- Residents of South Haven, St. Joseph, or Benton Harbor areas
- Current high school graduates entering College for the first
time, or
- Current or new college students, traditional or non-traditional
- Enrolled in the Hospitality Management program
- Have and maintain a 3.0 GPA for eligibility and/or renewal
- Preference will be given to students with one year's experience
in the food service industry and with a demonstrated interest
in a career in food service
- Full-time or part-time students
- Must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA)
Robert Small Scholarship
Amount: Varies
- For a high school senior
- Must be a resident of Benton Harbor or Benton Township
- Must enroll for a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester
- Demonstrate leadership through involvement in school, civic,
community, or church organizations
- Renewable upon maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA
- Do not need to demonstrate financial need to qualify
Rotary Club of Benton Harbor - Sunrise Scholarship*
Amount: $500 - $1,000; may be used for tuition, fees, and/or books
- Be a graduate of Benton Harbor High School
- Be enrolled for the Fall semester after graduation from high
school
- Be enrolled full-time
- Have a cumulative 2.5 GPA for the last four (4) semesters
of high school
- Priority will be given to students applying by April 30
- Renewable for a second year provided a minimum 2.0 GPA is
maintained
- Demonstrate financial need
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
Or
- Be a graduate of Benton Harbor High School
- Have successfully completed one year of studies at LMC with
a minimum 2.75 GPA
- Be enrolled full-time

- Demonstrate motivation to be successful at the college level

and LMC to help students succeed in achieving their educational
goals. The required qualifications for each scholarship are
listed below. To apply for a scholarship designated with an
asterisk(*) you must also complete a "Free Application
for Federal Student Aid" (FAFSA -
click for the online version) and indicate LMC (Title IV
code 002277) as a college you plan to attend.
