What are scholarships designed to do?

training to become more employable, or advance within a particular
career
What are scholarships?
Scholarships are gift funds based on high academic achievement,
special talent, a particular major, or financial need. You do
not have to repay scholarships.
Who is eligible?
To receive a scholarship at LMC, you must:
- Be accepted for admission
to a program leading to a degree or certificate.
- Be enrolled at least half time - six credit hours (for most
scholarships).
- Complete a scholarship essay.
- Meet the other qualifications of the specific
scholarship.
When are scholarships awarded?
You may be awarded a scholarship for the Fall and Winter semesters
only, unless otherwise noted.
What do scholarships pay for?
You may use your scholarship to pay for tuition and fees only
(not books), unless otherwise noted.
How will I be notified?
You will receive an award letter from the LMC Financial Aid Office.
Scholarships are coordinated with your other financial aid. The
letter will explain how much financial aid, including scholarships,
you are eligible for and any special requirements for receiving
your award.
What about community scholarships?
Scholarship monies are readily available in your local community.
Many local and national civic and community organizations have
a long tradition of investing in local talent. Scholarships are
often awarded to those who simply take the time to investigate.
Your employer may also offer educational incentives. Check out
