Scholarship Detail - Health Sciences

Algonquin Chapter, DAR Scholarship*
Amount: $250 per year

  • Be returning to Lake Michigan College for a second year
  • Priority will be given but not limited to female students in a Health Studies field
  • Must demonstrate good citizenship
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Berrien County Medical Society Scholarship*
Amount: Up to $1,000

  • Must be a resident of Berrien County
  • Must be accepted to the LPN or ADN program
  • Be a current college student
  • Have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for renewal
  • May be full-time or part-time
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Lakeland Valley Dental Assisting Society Scholarship
Amount: Varies

  • For students in the Dental Assisting Program
  • Do not need to demonstrate financial need to qualify

  • Do not need to demonstrate financial need to qualify

Leeland V. & Adeline A. Brown Scholarship*
Amount: Varies

  • Permanent residents of Berrien County
  • Enrolled in the Nursing Program
  • Current college student, traditional or non-traditional
  • Have a minimum 2.5 GPA for eligibility and/or renewal
  • Full time or part time student
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Marie Pastrick Olney Endowed Scholarship*
Amount: Varies

  • For students in the Nursing Program who have completed the course “Fundamentals of Nursing” with a grade of B or better
  • Second year students must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA
  • Must submit a letter from a clinical instructor indicating the student’s excellence and enthusiasm for the nursing profession and compassion for those for whom they care
  • Must submit a letter explaining why the nursing profession was chosen and how this scholarship will help
  • Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Michigan Nursing Scholarship*
Amount: Up to $4,000

  • Must be a resident of Michigan
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Must have completed at least 8 credit hours of Nursing courses
  • Must write an essay that includes the following
      -A paragraph stating why nursing is their chosen field
      -A paragraph stating how the scholarship will help you
  • Preference given to those with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Organ Transplants of Southwestern Michigan/Edward F. Heyn Memorial Scholarship
Amount: Varies

  • For a resident of the LMC district
  • Must enroll for at least 6 credit hours per semester
  • Meets one of the following:
    (1) Is an organ donor, organ transplant recipient or a member of the immediate family of the donor or recipient
    OR

  • (2) Is a student who will enroll in a field of study related to the medical field, has a minimum high school/college 3.0 GPA, and demonstrates involvement in community or school service activities, preferably in the medical field

Virginia Kowerduck Scholarship*
Amount: Varies; for Spring semester only

  • For LPN students finishing their program during Spring/Summer semesters
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Lake Michigan College Scholarships have been established by generous friends, organizations, businesses, and LMC to help students succeed in achieving their educational goals. The required qualifications for each scholarship are listed below. To apply for a scholarship designated with an asterisk(*) you must also complete a "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" (FAFSA - click for the online version) and indicate LMC (Title IV code 002277) as a college you plan to attend.
