Gear Up Scholarship*
Amount: Varies
- Must have participated in the LMC Gear Up program for at least
one year
- Must be a Michigan resident, or the dependent of a parent
who is a Michigan resident
- Must be less than 22 years old at the time of the first scholarship
award
- Must have earned a high school diploma, or recognized equivalent
- Must be enrolled, or accepted for full-time enrollment at
LMC
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
Hughes Family Scholarship for Countryside
Charter School
Amount: $1,000
- Must be current graduates of Countryside Charter School entering
for the first time
- Have and maintain a 2.5 GPA for eligibility and/or renewal
- Must enroll full-time (12 credit hours)
- Do not need to demonstrate financial need to qualify
Kidzone Scholarship*
Amount: $500, may be used for tuition, fees, books, and/or child
care expenses
- Be residents of the LMC district in Berrien or Van Buren counties
with child/children enrolled in the childcare program at Kidzone
- Be current high school graduate entering College for the first
time, or
- Current college student, traditional or non-traditional
- Preference will be given to single mothers
- Remain in good academic standing to apply for renwal
- may be enrolled full or part-time
- Funds may be used to meet tuition, fees, books, and/or childcare
expenses
- Demonstrate financial need, but not qualify for a full Pell
grant
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
LMC Club Scholarship
Amount: Varies
- Three scholarships awarded per semester in the following club
categories:
-Journalism -Business -Art -International Club
- Students are expected to be active participants in the college
club
- Do not need to demonstrate financial need to qualify
Marohn Family Scholarship*
Amount: Varies
- Be residents of Benton Harbor, St. Joseph, or Stevensville
area
- Plan to work at a business in this community
- Have a minimum 2.5 high school GPA
- Maintain a College GPA of 2.5 for renewal the second semester
- May be full or part-time
- May be traditional or non-traditional
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
Michael L. Swift Scholarship*
Amount: Varies, may be used for tuition, fees and/or books
- Preference will be given to African American males
- Be permanent in-district residents of Berrien County
- Current high school graduate entering college for the first
time or have a GED OR
- Current college student, traditional or non-traditional
- Have and maintain a 2.5 GPA for eligibility and/or renewal
- For applicants out of school for more than two years, the
minimum cumulative GPA may be waived
- May be a full-time or part time-student
- Demonstrate financial need, but does not qualify for other
significant financial aid
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
Silcox/Pappas Scholarship*
Amount: Up to $500
- Must reside within the LMC district
- Preference will go to students who have overcome incredible
odds to be successful
- May be a recent high school graduate entering College for
the first time OR
- May be a current LMC student
- Must maintain a 2.5 GPA to receive the Winter allocation
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student

Valentine Memorial Scholarship*
Amount: Varies
- Must reside within the LMC district
- Must be a first-time college student
- Must plan to enroll for at least 6 credits
- Must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5 or a GED
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
Upward Bound Scholarship*
Amount: Varies
- Have earned a minimum 2.0 high school GPA
- Have completed a minimum of 2 years in the BHHS/LMC Upward
Bound Program
- Be enrolled for a minimum of 6 credit hours
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) for renewal
second semester
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
Whirlpool Earn & Learn Scholarship
Amount: Varies
- Have completed one academic year or earned at least 24 credit
hours and earned a cumulative grade point average of at least
2.50 at Lake Michigan College
- Be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours by no later than
May 1st for the following fall semester at Lake Michigan College
- Demonstrate financial need for the following academic year
by April 1
- Have at least one letter of recommendation from a Lake Michigan
College faculty or staff member
- Have completed a resume and cover letter, and have it on file
with the Lake Michigan College Office of Career Services
- Qualified students may to use the Whirlpool Earn & Learn
Program as part of their coop experience. In those cases students
must make arrangements with the appropriate faculty member and

Whirlpool Hispanic Network Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
- Preference will be given to students of Hispanic origin
- Must demonstrate how they have worked to advance Hispanic
culture and/or heritage through their involvement with, or leadership
in related organizations, events and/or activities
- Preference will be given to students enrolled in a business
program of study
- Must plan to enroll for a minimum of 6 credit hours
- Must earn a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA to receive winter allocation
- May be renewed for a second year is 2.5 GPA is maintained
- May be a first-time college student or returning student
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
Winner's Circle Scholarship*
Amount: $500 to $1,000 per year
- For high school students with a minimum cumulative GPA of
2.25
- For LMC student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
- For applicants out of school for more than two years, the
minimum cumulative GPA may be waived
- Applicant must not be eligible for a full Pell grant or other
substantial sources of aid
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student

Michigan College Scholarships
have been established by generous friends, organizations, businesses,
and LMC to help students succeed in achieving their educational
goals. The required qualifications for each scholarship are
listed below. To apply for a scholarship designated with an
asterisk(*) you must also complete a "Free Application
for Federal Student Aid" (FAFSA -
click for the online version) and indicate LMC (Title IV
code 002277) as a college you plan to attend.
