Scholarship Detail - Returning Students
Algonquin Chapter, DAR Scholarship*
Amount: $250
- Be returning to Lake Michigan College for a second year
- Priority will be given but not limited to female students
in a Health Studies field
- Must demonstrate good citizeship
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
Betts Rittmeyer Scholarship
Amount: Varies
- For a returning LMC student
- Must maintain minimum LMC 3.0 GPA
- Must be math, science, or physical education major
- First LMC math class was Basic Math or Elementary Algebra
- Do not need to demonstrate financial need to qualify
LMC Divisional Scholarship
Amount: $500 a year
- Returning LMC student who intends to transfer or graduate
at end of academic year
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA
- Other financial aid received will be taken into account
- Must submit an essay with application
- Do not need to demonstrate financial need to qualify
Harry B. Ross Scholarship
Amount: Varies, may be used for tuition, fees, or books
- For a returning LMC student pursuing a career in engineering
or the sciences
- Preference will be given to full-time students
- Must have proven him/herself by outstanding work in their
chosen subjects
- Must show intelligence, ingenuity, persistence and enthusiasm
for their studies as demonstrated by their grades and the recommendations
of their teachers
- Do not need to demonstrate financial need to qualify
Jespersen Family Scholarship*
Amount: Varies, may be used for tuition, fees and/or books
- Be permanent in-district residents of Berrien County
- Current high school graduate entering College for the first
time or have a GED OR
- Current college student, traditional or non-traditional
- Have and maintain a 2.5 GPA for eligibility and/or renewal
- For applicants out of school for more than two years, the
minimum cumulative GPA may be waived
- May be a full-time or part time-student
- Demonstrate financial need, but does not qualify for other
significant financial aid
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)
LMC Advancement Scholarship
Amount: Varies
- Be permanet residents of the in-district service area
- Have attended LMC for at least two semesters and be enrolled
for additional academic work at the College
- Be in a degree-seeking program
- Have an maintain a 3.5 GPA
- Maintain a minimum of 10 credit hours per semester
- Do not need to demonstrate financial need to qualify
Marie Pastrick Olney Endowed Scholarship*
Amount: Varies
- For students in the Nursing Program who have complete the
course "Fundamentals of Nursing" with a grade of "B"
or better
- Second year students must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA
- Must submit a letter from a clinical instructor indicating
the student's excellence and enthusiasm for the nursing profession
and compassion for those for whom they care
- Must submit a letter explaining why the nursing profession
was chosen and how this scholarship will help
- Must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA)
Richie & Karen Barnes Family Scholarship*
Amount: Varies, may be used for tuition, fees and/or books
Student Support Services Academic Incentive
Scholarship
Amount: $200

Must have current acceptance and active participation
in the Student Support Services program

Swerbinsky-Valentine Memorial Scholarship
Amount: Varies
- For full-time sophomores who are not eligible for other financial
aid
- Must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid

Twin Cities Association of Insurance
Women Scholarship*
Amount: $500
- Be residents of the LMC in-district area
- Be returning LMC students
- Have and maintain a 2.5 GPA for eligibility and/or renewal
- Provide a letter of recommendation from a member of the
LMC faculty
- Demonstrate financial need
- Preference will be given to students enrolled in a Business
Studies program
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA)

Scholarships have been established
by generous friends, organizations, businesses, and LMC to help
students succeed in achieving their educational goals. The required
qualifications for each scholarship are listed below. To apply
for a scholarship designated with an asterisk(*) you must also
complete a "Free Application for Federal Student Aid"
(FAFSA - click for the online
version) and indicate LMC (Title IV code 002277) as a college
you plan to attend.
