Financial Aid
Check your financial aid status online! Students may check their application status, awards, and document requirements at any time by logging in to your WaveLink account.

Lake Michigan College has one of the most affordable tuition rates in the state.  We also offer the same types of financial aid as most other colleges including grants, scholarships and work-study opportunities.

Grants and Waivers
Grants and Waivers are available from state and federal sources and do not have to be repaid. Most require that you complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine your level of eligibility. Some grants have limited funding and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so early application is encouraged. Grants may include:

Scholarships
Lake Michigan College awards hundreds of scholarships each year based on academic achievement, financial need and special talent. Many LMC scholarships require a FAFSA to be completed as part of the application process. Some scholarships have a December 15 priority deadline while most have a March 1 priority deadline, but applications will be accepted after that date.

Loans
Loans are financial aid that must be repaid by the student, with interest.  Loans are a legal obligation, and are a serious responsibility.  There are serious consequences when students default on loans.  So students should think carefully about how much they require to pay for their educational expenses and only borrow what they need.
Questions about loans programs can be directed to the Financial Aid Office at (269) 927-8112 or by visiting the Students Services area on the Napier Avenue Campus.

Work Study/Student Employment
Each year, there are a several Work Study opportunities available on campus. These on-campus jobs require that a student be at least half-time and the FAFSA be completed.

To apply for a work-study job, you must complete a Student Employment Application and prepare a resume.  Both of these documents should be turned into the Financial Aid Office.  If you are determined to be eligible for a work study job, you will be able to choose jobs that you can apply.  You will be interviewed for the position, and the supervisor will determine if you will be hired.  Student workers are paid bi-weekly beginning at a rate of $7.40 per hour and may work up to 20 hours per week, depending on the student’s need and the department’s budget.

For more information, contact the Work Study Coordinator at (269) 927-8100 ext. 5289.
