For course placement purposes, all students new to Lake Michigan College will be required to complete an assessment of writing, mathematics, and reading skills prior to registration unless an exemption applied based on current procedure. All assessments are scheduled in B202 at the Napier Avenue Campus, Room 113 at the Bertrand Crossing Campus and Student Services at the South Haven Campus. Assessment at Lake Michigan College is computer adaptive and offered on a walk-in basis during the hours listed below. No appointment is necessary. Each assessment session takes approximately two hours. Assessments can also be taken during special Express Registration dates. A photo ID must be presented to take an assessment. We recommend that students coming in to take out-of-class tests at the Napier Avenue Campus take advantage of the opportunity to reserve a seat by clicking on the icon below and scheduling an appointment. Appointments are not required for Compass assessments, though future students may schedule appointments for assessments if they have been issued student ID numbers and wish to do so.
