William Hessel Library
Patron Borrowing Policy
Borrowing Materials
Anyone may come into the library to use its resources. To check
out circulating materials a library patron must present a valid
library card and/or photo ID depending on the status of the patron.
(see below)
Lake Michigan College students, faculty and staff:
Staff and students
must show a valid ID card (driver's license) and class schedule
(if a student), available on WaveLink, in order to receive an
ID card or have the card updated, or to check out materials.
Current staff and students are to use a driver's license or
another offical ID photo to check out materials and therefore
do not need an ID card to check out library materials.
Students at affiliated colleges and universities:
Students taking classes from other colleges and universities
(e.g., Siena Heights) offering degree programs in conjunction
with Lake Michigan College have full library borrowing privileges.
Also, faculty and staff associated with these programs may borrow
library materials. ID cards are available at the library circulation
desk at the Napier campus and at the main offices at the campuses
at Bertrand Crossing, South Haven, and M-TEC. NOTE: Library
bar code stickers will be attached to these ID cards. LMC students
are to just use their official photo ID to check out materials.
Community members:
Lake Michigan College participates in the state-wide Michicard
program. Any community member having a Michicard from their
local public library at his/hers current place of residence
may borrow library materials. Patrons presenting a Berrien Library
Consortium Infopass will also be granted borrowing privileges.
Responsibility for borrowed materials and
library cards
The library patron is responsible for materials checked out on
their card. Allowing others to check out materials on your
card, makes you, the card holder, responsible for the safe and
timely return of those materials to the library.
The library charges a $1.00 fee for replacement cards.
