Medicine & Osteopathic Medicine (Pre)
A medical career provides the opportunity to make a difference in patients' lives and in the community. This field provides opportunities to serve patients, present daily challenges, and puts you in demand wherever you decide to live.
Lake Michigan College's Pre- Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine transfer program allows you to complete the first two years of core classes that will lead to the advanced degrees you will need. By completing your Associate in Science degree through LMC, you will be eligible to continue your education at a four-year school, then onto medical school.
A career in medicine offers a wide variety of professional opportunities. There are two types of physicians: Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). While both MDs and DOs may use drugs and surgery as methods of treatment, DOs place an emphasis on the musculoskeletal system.
Physicians may work in one or more of the following specialties:
- Family and general medicine
- General internal medicine
