Nomination Deadline Approaching for Lake Michigan
College's Summer Manufacturing Camp
BENTON TOWNSHIP, MI - Seventh and eighth
grade students in Berrien County have a chance to find out how
technology, creativity, problem solving, and teamwork skills
go together to make the products people use every day, during
Lake Michigan College's "Campus Kids" Applied Technology & Manufacturing
Camps. The first camp will take place July 23-27 at LMC's Bertrand
Crossing Campus in Niles, and the second camp will take place
July 30 - August 3 at LMC's M-TECSM facility in Benton Harbor.
Both camps run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.
To be considered for participation, a student
must be nominated by a teacher or parent by June 22. Through
a grant from the Michigan Department of Career Development,
these camps are open to 40 students free of charge. Both boys
and girls are encouraged to participate.
This is a new camp in which students from schools
across the county will work together on projects that will open
their eyes to the high-tech world of manufacturing. They will
do several hands-on activities, career exploration activities,
meet with manufacturing professionals, and much more.
