Lake Michigan College Athletes to Play at Four-Year
Colleges or Universities Next Year
BENTON TOWNSHIP, MI - Nine Lake Michigan College athletes have
been awarded the opportunity to continue honing their skills
as they move on to play intercollegiate athletics at four-year
colleges or universities.
"We're very proud of these student-athletes who took advantage
of the increased exposure that intercollegiate athletics at
the community college level provides," stated LMC athletic
director Doug Schaffer. "Their hard work in the classroom
and on the court or playing field opened doors to scholarships
that were not available out of high school."
Three of these outstanding athletes are member of the men's
basketball team.

Adam Shepherdson, a former Niles
High School basketball standout, has received a scholarship
to play at the University of North Carolina, Pembroke (NCAA
Division II). Shepherdson graduated from LMC with an Associate
in Arts degree and earned MCCAA Honorable Mention All-Conference
recognition for basketball.

Anthony Curry, a former Cassopolis
High School basketball player, has received a scholarship
to play basketball at Indiana University, South Bend (NAIA
Division I). Curry graduated from LMC with an Associate in
General Studies degree.

Ricardo Horton, of Indianapolis, is
transferring to play at Olivet College.
Men's baseball player Nate Weller of Grand
Haven is transferring to Grand Valley State University to further
his baseball career.
Women's volleyball team member Kim Martin,
a River Valley High School graduate, is transferring to
play volleyball at Spring Arbor University. While at LMC, she
graduated with an Associate in Arts degree and earned MCCAA Academic
All-Conference and All-State honors.
Two members of the women's softball team will be
taking their games to the next level.
- Danielle Daughtrey of Parchment, Mich has earned a
softball scholarship to Western Michigan University. While at
LMC, she graduated with an Associate in General Studies degree
and earned NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American and MCCAA First
Team All-State honors.
- Megan Shriver of Shelby, Mich. has earned a softball
scholarship to Ball State University. This two-sport athlete
also participated on the LMC women's basketball team. Shriver
graduated from with an Associate in Arts degree and earned MCCAA
First Team All-Conference and MCCAA Academic All-Conference
honors.
Two women's basketball team members will be continuing
their basketball careers.
- Kristina Haring of Clare, Mich. and Shannon Jolliff
of Breckenridge, Mich. are transferring to Alma College to play
basketball. While at LMC, Haring was recognized with the honor
of being named MCCAA Academic All-Conference team.
Lake Michigan College is a member of the National
Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA),Region XII and the
Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA). The College's
intercollegiate athletic program includes women's volleyball,
men's and women's basketball, men's baseball, and women's softball.
