LMC Offers Spring Travel Course to New York
City
BENTON TOWNSHIP, MI - Lake Michigan College is
accepting registrations for its annual four day/three night
travel course to New York City scheduled for May 8 - 13, 2006.
Those wanting to participate are asked to sign up as soon as
possible as seats are limited. A $200 deposit is due at registration
and may be paid by credit card. The remainder of the fee is
due by April 7.
Included in the trip are tickets to three theatrical
productions; round-trip bus transportation; hotel accommodations
for three nights at the Amsterdam Court Hotel, located in the
heart of the theatre district and just around the corner from
Times Square; and a guided tour of the city. The trip will be
led by LMC theatre instructor Kevin Wurz and department chair
Dr. Bill Sprunk.
Plays being considered for this year are The 25th
Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which received two
Tony Awards in 2005, including for librettist Rachel Sheinkin's
laugh-filled book and for the performance of Dan Fogler as an
overweight speller blessed with a magic foot; Pajama Game,
starring Harry Connick, Jr.; The Color Purple produced
by Oprah Winfrey; and Barefoot in the Park with Amanda
Peet, Patrick Wilson, Jill Clayburgh and Tony Roberts.
Participants will depart the LMC Napier Avenue
campus at 9 p.m. on Monday, May 8. Departure for the return
trip is scheduled for late Friday, May 12, with a mid-morning
arrival at the Napier Avenue campus on Saturday, May 13. Travel
is by private motor coach equipped with reclining seats and
restroom facilities.
The travel course fee is $780 and includes hotel
room double occupancy. Enrollment is open to the public. Regular
tuition rates and the College's $9.00 per-credit-hour general
service fee and $3.00 per-credit-hour technology fee apply.
In-district tuition is $72.50 per credit hour; service area
tuition is $86 per credit hour; and out-of-district tuition
is $114.50 per credit hour. Senior citizens aged 60 and older
are exempt from tuition charges but must pay the applicable
travel course, general service, and technology fees. Participants
may register for 1 and/or 3 credit hours or choose to audit
the course.
