Assessment & Placement
Lake Michigan College uses the assessment process
to measure your skill level in reading, writing, and mathematics.
It has no affect on your admission to the College. Certain levels
of performance are necessary in these skill areas for success
in college-level courses. College counselors and advisors use
the results to help place you in the proper courses. There are
several exemptions that allow you to opt out of the assessment
process as listed in the Assessment
& Placement Policy. The assessment is a free service of
the College.
