The Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act
The Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act can
supplement other sources of financial aid to help you pay for
tuition, books and/or childcare. In order to qualify, an applicant
must
- Be enrolled in a state-approved vocational program,
- Apply for the Pell Grant and have demonstrated financial need,
and
- Lack the job skills necessary to adequately support the student
and any dependents
Perkins support services can range from tutoring, advising, disability
services and tuition assistance for the seven special populations
categories.
- Single parent; single pregnant woman
- Homemaker; displaced homemaker
- Student enrolled in a non-traditional program for his/her
gender
- Individual with a disability
- Limited English proficiency
- Economically disadvantaged
Eligible applicants must be in a State-approved Career
and Technical Educational Program.
