A week long summer camp to keep the kids busy (and learning) during the Summer months! Minimum age is 6, with a maximum age of 10 for this camp. Come to the Fab Lab, meet new friends, learn about dinosaurs and create dino "stuff." This week-long camp will meet Monday through Thursday and teach the participants how to use the various machines in the Fab Lab. Breakdown of the camp is as follows: Monday - Participants will learn how to safely operate the equipment in the lab. They will also start prepping all the materials for the upcoming week. Wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty (or more specifically painted) because we will be painting on this day (Prepping for all the upcoming projects). An introduction to 3D printing to find their dinosaurs that they want to recreate. Tuesday - Participants we will start creating their dinosaur models. Each camper will have the opportunity to create a T-Rex that is a little over two feet tall and approximately 4 foot long. Various Dino puzzles and snacks will be able available. Wednesday - Participants will laser engrave a dinosaur of their choosing on an art canvas and create their own work of art. We will continue working on their T-Rex models as well. Various Dino puzzles and snacks will be able available. Thursday - Participants will complete any unfinished projects on the last day of camp. For those that have completed everything, the can recreate whichever project they desire. Camp will meet every day from 1:30pm-4:30pm to beat the heat of the summer. Open lab time will immediately follow the camp, so participants will have the option to stay if they would like to work on other projects in the Fab Lab (charges may apply for 3D printing and other items that are not included in this camp). Parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and other friends are encouraged to stop by or hang out with the campers during the open lab time. Our camps are designed for the participants to learn to come up with problem solving techniques and "make things." Sometimes, this involves failing, returning to the original concept and trying again. We want to create an environment of trying, re-thinking the process, and trying again to make the design better. We believe this approach encourages creative thinking and determination in addition to exposing them to new technologies. Registration for this camp closes one week prior to allow time to purchase required materials. Registration is limited to the first 6 participants. Projects are subject to change based on material availability. Once registered, you'll receive an email asking for the participant(s) name, age, and gender for our instructor's roster. If you have questions, please email them to fablab@lakemichigancollege.edu The Fab Lab is a place where students can build science, technology, engineering and math skills through hands on learning. Participating in Fab Lab activities allow students to explore and experiment with digital fabrication technology including 3D Printers, Laser Cutters, and Vinyl Cutters. Tickets are $95 and available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/dino-lab-dinosaur-camp-fab-lab-for-kids-create-summer-tickets-45252494429
