The public is invited to participate in a series of free events at Lake Michigan College’s Benton Harbor Campus to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast Celebration and Awards Ceremony LMC will host its 24th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast Celebration and Diversity Award ceremony on Monday, January 21, from 7:45 to 10 a.m. in The Mendel Center’s Grand Upton Hall.
 
This year's theme is “Rise Above the Narrow Horizons,” taken from Dr. King’s 1957 “Conquering Self-Centeredness" sermon delivered in Montgomery, Alabama. Master of ceremonies is Danny Sledge, and the keynote speaker is Alonzo Kelly. Other speakers include Congressman Fred Upton and LMC students Madelyn MacMillan and Lorena Diaz. Music will be performed by All God’s Children Community Choir, and Overflow Church Worship Arts and Young Life Team.
 
The college will also announce the recipient of its 2019 Martin Luther King Jr. Diversity Award.
