A FREE opportunity for students with IEPs, 504 Plans or who are Struggling Learners who are graduating/completing high school in 2019
The Welding Action Lab is specifically designed for students completing high school at the end of the 2019 school year, who have Individual Education Plans (IEPs), 504 Plans or are considered struggling learners and wish to become employed as welders. This FREE program is a two-week introductory lab experience that may help students gain access to entry-level welding job opportunities. Two sessions of the action lab will be offered; one from June 4-12, and the second session from June 13-21. Both sessions will be held at Lake Michigan College’s Hanson Technology Center. All classes will be held Tuesday- Friday each week from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day during the
experience. After successfully participating, students may be introduced to area welding employers to demonstrate their newly acquired skills (and potentially be offered employment).
Applications are due March 22, 2019 by 3 p.m. Students will be selected through an interview process. Interviews will be individually scheduled during the evenings of April 5, 12, or 26. Selected students will be notified of their acceptance by April 30, 2019.
