Williamson Employment Services donates scholarships to LMC students in skilled trades

Aug 05, 2016
Williamson Employment Services will donate $4,000 each year in scholarships for Lake Michigan College students studying skilled trades.

Six students each semester will receive the Williamson Employment Services Skilled Trades Scholarship. Williamson aims to help provide critical financial support for students while boosting the number of skilled professionals to fill open career opportunities in the area’s thriving advanced manufacturing industry.

“We are delighted to announce this scholarship,” said President of Williamson Employment Services, Inc., Judee Hopwood. “In a tangible way, it demonstrates our commitment to vital business partnerships and long-lasting strategic alliances. The scholarship will promote training opportunities for individuals to build successful careers and will keep our local people working locally. Placing People First . . . it’s what we do.”

Students must reside in LMC’s service area, and may be full- or part-time. They must be accepted into the college, and enrolled in a skilled trades short-term training, certificate or associate’s degree program. More information is available at lakemichigancollege.edu/technology.

“This reflects Williamson’s awareness of the important role skilled trades education plays in our local economy. The Williamson Employment Services Skilled Trades Scholarship is designed to help both those seeking short-term manufacturing certificates, and those completing their second year of the associates’ degree skilled trades program, times when many students struggle financially,” said Hopwood.
