Can you imagine a day without computers? When you do, it’s easy to see why people with the skills to fix, protect, program and create or use applications for them are so crucial. If you enjoy working with technology, troubleshooting and keeping up with the latest technological advances, a job as a computer information systems professional might be for you.

As a student in the computer field, you’ll get hands-on experience in our labs using state-of-the-art hardware and software to build technical skills. You’ll also learn critical thinking and analytical skills to keep up with inevitable changes in technology as they occur. IT professionals spend a lot of time with computers, but they must collaborate productively with other people throughout an organization. As part of this program, you’ll frequently work closely with your peers to gain experience in interpersonal communication, team-building and project management.

Almost all of the concentrations within this field of interest can be completed as either a certificate or associate degree program. If you want to power-on your career as soon as possible, or if you are already working, a certificate might be the right choice for you. If you want more in depth knowledge and skills, and potentially higher earning potential, you’ll want to complete an associate degree and transfer to a four-year institution to earn a bachelor's degree.
