My name is Tim Schroeder, and I’ve been actively involved with photography for 48 years. I started in 1970 photographing for Lake Michigan College’s yearbook, and went on to Western Michigan University where I continued photographing for their yearbook. I also worked as a photographer at a commercial art studio during school. After graduating from Western, I attended an Ansel Adams workshop inYosemite National Park in 1975. Upon return to St. Joseph, I started the photography program at the St. Joseph Art Association on State Street. When the Krasl building endowment was announced, I designed and equipped the new darkroom area during construction. I’ve since been teaching photography at the Krasl for 38 years. Starting in the late 70s through 1997, I partnered with Michelle Palmini, a catalog photographer who’d moved here from Chicago, in a commercial photography business. We did industrial, product and food photography for many local manufacturers, food companies, commodity groups and advertising agencies. When our last studio closed in 1997, I started my own commercial photography and graphics business. I also teach Digital Photography and Photoshop at Lake Michigan College.

Rebecca Derbas-Selvidge, soprano, holds a Bachelor of Music in Choral Education from Western Michigan University, a Master of Arts from the University of South Florida, and a Certificate of Musical Theatre Performance from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. She is the Music Lecturer at Lake Michigan College and directs the student choir, Vocal Chamber, and the Concert Choir. Rebecca has performed with various ensembles including Lake Effect Jazz Big Band under Steve Reed, Gold Company under Dr. Steve Zegree, WMU Chorale under Dr. James Bass, and VOICES LMC. She has performed in regional and local theatre productions such as Sandy in Grease!, Mother in SMSO's Ragtime, and Penelope Pennywise in Urinetown. Rebecca has been the musical director for various productions including Twin City Player's Sound of Music, Children's Music Workshop's production of Hairspray, LMC's production of Rent, and one of the founding members of CMW TeenStock's summer musical productions.

Rebecca has performed at the International Association of Jazz Educators conference in Toronto and has appeared on several albums including WMU Gold Company's Who Could Ask for Anything More and 30; Tim Hauser's Love Stories; and Ditties for Kiddies, a benefit CD for Little Kids Rock. She was writer/producer/performer for A Woman's World Cabaret at Danny's Skylight in New York City and has performed at such venues as The Cutting Room, The Triad, Studio One in New York City. Rebecca was co-singer/songwriter for the band Stoney End, a backup singer for Erin Hill Band, and a founding member of the Three Divas of Southwest Michigan with Carrie VanDenburgh and Katherine Rohwer. Rebecca is a proud alum of the Lake Michigan College music department where she received the Steve Sizer Vocal scholarship, received the Outstanding Musician of the Year award, and met her husband, Alan. She is mom to their son, Jack, and their family dog, Ginger.

She has worked as a staff nurse in the medical, obstetric and psychiatric areas. Her first teaching experiences began at Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek where she was an adjunct nursing instructor from 1989-1999.
She enjoys working with students and has been an instructor at LMC since 1999. There are so many creative ways to teach students today and I am excited to include simulation as one of those methods.

Education: Kim earned her bachelor of nursing degree from Andrews University in 1986. She earned her Masters of Science in Nursing degree with a focus on nursing education from Bethel College in 2015.
