Summer Bridge Program

at the Benton Harbor Campus

Free for qualifying incoming LMC students:

  • Students entering LMC from any high school with a known deficiency in Math or English proficiency, based on grades, Accuplacer, or other standardized test score (ACT, SAT) 
  • High school graduates from the class of 2026 from Benton Harbor and Niles High Schools 
  • Students entering LMC from any district who utilized specialized services during high school - 504 Plans, IEPs, etc.

What is Red Hawks Rise? 

Beginning your college journey is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. Many students benefit from extra support as they prepare for college-level classes and campus life. Our team is here to help you build confidence, skills, and independence as you transition from high school to college. This immersive 12-day, non-residential, face-to-face summer program is designed to help Red Hawks start strong, feel supported, and rise before their first semester begins. 

What are the benefits?

  • Meet other new students and learn how to navigate life on campus
  • Enhance success strategies in an inclusive and supportive environment
  • Feel more secure in math, reading, and writing skill strategies, as well as the demands of college work
  • Meet with financial aid staff, tutors, and advisors before regular classes begin
  • Learn about the many resources available to students
  • Get guidance in identifying strengths and linking them to career and vocational opportunities
  • Improve study skills, time management skills, goal setting, and test-taking strategies

Red Hawks Rise is completely FREE with no costs for tuition or textbooks.

How do I register?

Please register in advance so that sufficient resources are available.
Space is limited. Students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
