Testing Services


Students must schedule an appointment to test on the Benton Harbor Campus.  Appointments begin 30 minutes after opening.  All tests must be scheduled at least one day in advance and must be completed prior to closing time.  A picture ID must be presented at each appointment.  For additional information or if you have any questions, call (269 )927-6173.  Students wishing to test at the South Haven Campus should use the link below for more information.

Remote placement testing is very limited and must be scheduled in advance via phone or email.

Out-of-Class Testing for Current Students

Out-of-class testing includes course testing outside of scheduled class periods and may also include online course testing if instructors require proctored testing in Testing Services or at another approved location.

Testing Services is offering on-site testing by appointment only.

NOTE: Lake Michigan College administers exams for other colleges by appointment only; beginning August 30, 2021, there is a $25 fee per test. The fee is payable to our Business Office prior to your appointment. Please call (269) 927-6173 or email testingservices@lakemichigancollege.edu for more information.

You are responsible for knowing your instructor’s name, the name of the class, and the name of the test you wish to take. Your cell phone must be off and put away while testing. If a cell phone is on or accessed while you are testing, the test will be terminated and your instructor will be notified.

Government- or school-issued photo ID is required; email testingservices@lakemichigancollege.edu for further information about options if you do not have a current government- or school-issued photo ID.

Here is what you need to know before you test:

  • Know your instructor's name, class name, and the name of the test you wish to take.
  • Bring a photo ID, e.g. driver's license, student ID, etc.
  • Turn off and put away your cell phone. If your cell phone is on or accessed while you are testing, your test will be terminated and your instructor will be notified.
  • Electronic devices, other than approved calculators, must be turned off and put away while testing.
  • If you need testing accommodations, please contact the office of Disability Support Services for accommodation procedures at 269-927-8866.

Health Science applicant tests are considered out-of-class tests. Applicants should check their application packets for information on tests required, how to register/pay for required tests, and where to find review materials. Applicants should email the Health Sciences department at healthsciences@lakemichigancollege.edu for information.

Nursing Program Candidates

Students applying to the nursing program need to take the HESI A2 test (via Evolve) for admission into the program. The HESI A2 test is considered an out-of-class test, and is administered through Testing Services at the Benton Harbor and South Haven campuses. The HESI A2 test cannot be administered via Zoom. Read the registration instructions to get started, and for links to study resources.
